The CPCS Competency Interview is a key part of obtaining the Blue Competent Operator Card and is designed to assess an operator’s knowledge, experience, and understanding of safe working practices. Conducted by a qualified assessor, the interview follows the successful completion of an NVQ/SVQ and covers areas such as health and safety, machine operation, site communication, and problem-solving.

The operator must demonstrate their ability to apply this knowledge in real-world scenarios, showing they are not only trained but also fully competent to work independently and responsibly on site.
